The distance between Surat and Ahmedabad is 280 km. Satish starts from Surat at 6:00 a.m. and drives in his car towards Ahmedabad at a constant speed of 50 km/h. After two hours, he increases his speed to 60 km/h and maintains the speed till he reaches Ahmedabad. At what time will he reach Ahmedabad?

The distance between Surat and Ahmedabad is 280 km. Satish starts from Surat at 6:00 a.m. and drives in his car towards Ahmedabad at a constant speed of 50 km/h. Formula:

Speed = Distance/Time 

Calculation:

From 6 am, He drives for 2 hours with a constant speed of 50km/h,

So distance covered = speed × time =  50 × 2 = 100km.

The time is now 8 am, He increases his speed and drives with a speed of 60km/h to cover the remaining distance (280 - 100) = 180km

So time taken = distance/speed = 180/60= 3 hour.

Initially, drives for 2 hours then again for 3 hours,

Total 5 hours, from 6:a.m.

Therefore at 11 am he will reach Ahmedabad.

Hence, 11 a.m. is the correct answer.
