Discount = 10%

Formula Used∶

Discount = Marked Price – Selling Price

Discount % = Discount / Marked Price × 100

Calculation∶

Let the M.P of 1 Momos be Rs. 100

M.P of 40 Momos = Rs. 4000

Discount on 40 Momos = Total M.P × Discount%

⇒ 4000 × 10 / 100

⇒ Rs. 400

He also gives 10 Momos free whose cost is Rs. 1000

MP of 50 momos = Rs. 5000

Total discount = (400 + 1000) = Rs. 1400

Overall discount % = (Total discount/M.P) × 100

⇒ (1400/5000) × 100

⇒ 28%.

∴ The overall discount percentage is 28%.
