Given:

Golu is older than Suman by 4 years

Two years from now, the respective ratio of their age = 9 ∶ 5

Calculations:

Let the present age of the Suman be x

So, Golu’s present age = x + 4

Age of Golu after 2 years = x + 4 + 2 = x + 6

Age of Suman after 2 years = x + 2

According to the question,

⇒ (x + 6)/(x + 2) = 9 ∶ 5

⇒ 5x + 30 = 9x + 18

⇒ 4x = 12

⇒ x = 3

Present age of Golu = x + 4 = 7

Two years ago, Golu’s age = 7 – 2 = 5 years

∴ Two years ago age of Golu is 5 years
