A salesman gets commission on total sales at 11%. If the sale is exceeded Rs. 15,000 he gets an additional commission as bonus of 4% on the excess of sales over Rs. 15,000. If he gets total commission of Rs. 1980, then what is the bonus received? Correct Answer 88

Given:

A salesman gets commission on total sales at 11%. If the sale is exceeded Rs.15,000 he gets an additional commission as bonus of 4% on the excess of sales over Rs. 15,000 If he gets total commission of Rs. 1980

Calculation

Commission up to 15000 = 15000 x 11/100 = 1650

Again after 15,000,

Commission    :   Bonus

          11          :   4

          11x        :   4x

Therefore,   Bonus = (1980 − 1650) × 4/15

⇒ 330 × 4/15 = Rs. 88

Hence, Bonus = Rs. 88
