M.F. Hussain, a world famous painter, while selling one of his famous painting he gives a discount of 8%. If he gives a discount of 9% he earns Rs. 73,000 less as profit. What is the marked price of the painting ? Correct Answer Rs. 73,00,000
Given∶
Discount of 8% is given when he sells one of his painting.
And when he gives a discount of 9%, he earns a profit of Rs. 73000 less as profit.
Formula Used∶
Discount difference = Profit difference
Basics of Profit & Loss.
Calculation∶
Let the M.P. = 100a
He gives a discount of 8%
Then, Price becomes = 92a
Again, if he 9% discount then,
Price becomes = 91a
A.T.Q., if he gives 9% discount his profit will be Rs. 73,000 less.
Discount difference = Profit difference
⇒ 92a - 91a = 73,000
⇒ a = Rs. 73,000
So, M.P. = 100a = 100 × 73000 = Rs. 73,00,000
∴ The marked price of the painting is of Rs.73,00,000.
