Sumit starts his journey from point Q at 1 p.m. He drives the car at the speed of 48 km/hr for first three hours and complete the remaining journey at the speed of 36 km/hr. If Rahul starts moving towards Sumit at 6 p.m. from point Q at the speed of 51 km/hr, then at what time he will catch Sumit ? Correct Answer 8 : 24 am
Given:
Sumit travels at speed for 1st 3 hours is 48 km/hr
Rahul moving is 51 km/hr
Formula Used:
Distance = Speed × Time
Calculation:
Distance travel by sumit till 6 pm = 3 × 48 + 2 × 36 = 216 km
Distance = Relative speed × time
⇒ 216 = (51 - 36) × Time
⇒ Time = 216/15 = 72/5 = 14 hr 24 minutes
So Rahul catch Sumit in 14hr 24 minutes after 6 PM
Then, Actual time = 8 : 24 am
∴ Rahul catch Sumit at 8 : 24 am.
