In an arithmetic progression, the 3rd term is 9 times the first term and the 5th term is 10. What is the 10th term? Correct Answer 370/17

Let the first term be ‘a’ and the common difference be ‘d’.

Then, a + 2d = 9a       -----(1)

a + 4d = 10       -----(2)

Solving equation 1 and 2:

From 1, d = 4a

Put this in equation 2:                                                             

a + 4(4a) = 10

a + 16a = 10

17a = 10

a = 10/17

And d = 40/17

The 10th term is (a + 9d) = 370/17
