A car covers one third of a journey at a speed of 10 kmph and half of the rest at a speed of 20 kmph and the rest at the speed of 30 kmph what is the average speed of the car? Correct Answer 16.36 kmph
GIVEN:
Speed of the car in one-third of a journey = 10 kmph
Speed of the car in one-third of a journey = 20 kmph
Speed of car in one-third of a journey = 30 kmph
CONCEPT:
Here the need to calculate the time taken by the car when it travels for three different speeds and add it to get the total time to calculate the average speed.
FORMULAE USED:
Average Speed = total distance/ total time
CALCULATION:
Average Speed = x/ = x/ (11x/180) = 180/11
∴ Average Speed = 16.36 kmph
