Number of students (initially) = 90

Total number of students = 120

Expenditure of mess increased by 560

Average expenditure per head diminishes by 10

Calculation:

Let average expense per day be x

Total expense = 90x

After admission of 30 more students,

Total Expense = 90x + 560

Average Expense = x - 10

According to the question,

120(x - 10) = 90x + 560

30x = 1760

90x = 5280

Original Expenditure = Rs. 5280

∴ Required answer is Rs. 5280
