Speed upstream = 6 – 2 = 4 kmph

Let the required distance be x kms

⇒ (x/8) + (x/4) = 68/60 = 17/15

⇒ 4x + 8x = (32 ⨯ 17)/15

⇒ 12x = 544/15

∴ x = 3.02 km
