A farmer has 30 hectares of land, in 40% of which, he sowed maize. In 20% of the remaining land, he sowed rice. In 30% of the remaining land, he planted apple trees and sowed vegetables in the remaining land. If he sowed vegetables at a price of Rs. 5200 per hectare, how much money did he invest in the vegetables? Correct Answer Rs. 52416

Land in which maize is sowed = 40% of 30 = 0.4 × 30 = 12 hectares

Land in which rice is sowed = 20% of (30 – 12) = 0.2 × 18 = 3.6 hectares

Land in which apple trees were planted = 30% of (30 – 12 – 3.6) = 0.3 × 14.4 = 4.32 hectares

Land in which vegetables are sowed = 30 – 12 – 9 – 4.32 = 10.08 hectares

∴ The farmer invested = 10.08 × 5200 = Rs. 52416
