Ritika and Monika bought a skirt each, paying an average amount of Rs. 650. Each of them also bought a shirt at an average price of Rs. 900. If Ritika paid Rs. 100 more than Monika, then how much did Monika spend on her shopping? Correct Answer Rs. 1500

Let Monika spend Rs. ‘x’ on her shopping.

Ritika’s shopping = Rs. (x + 100)

Total price of 2 skirts = 2 × 650 = Rs. 1300

Total price of 2 shirts = 2 × 900 = Rs. 1800

Total amount paid = 1300 + 1800 = Rs. 3100

Hence, we can write,

⇒ x + x + 100 = 3100

⇒ 2x = 3100 – 100

⇒ x = 3000/2 = Rs. 1500

∴ Monika spend Rs. 1500 on her shopping
