The average weight of the bags kept in a room is 13.5 kg. If two bags of weight 12 kg and 4 kg are removed from the room, the average weight of the remaining bags is 14 kg. How many bags are still there in the room? Correct Answer 22
Let the number of bags that remained in the room be ‘n’
Total weight of n bags = 14n
Total weight of (n + 2) bags = 13.5(n + 2)
Hence,
⇒ 14n + 12 + 4 = 13.5(n + 2)
⇒ 14n – 13.5n = 27 – 16
⇒ 0.5n = 11
⇒ n = 22
∴ There are 22 bags still in the room
