Let the total number of bags = x

Green coloured bags = 0.3x

⇒ Remaining bags = x - 0.3x = 0.7x

⇒ Red coloured bags = 0.3 × 0.7x = 0.21x

Remaining bags = 0.7x - 0.21x = 0.49x

Yellow coloured bags = 0.4 × 0.49x = 0.196x

⇒ Remaining bags = 0.49x - 0.196x = 0.294x

Given: 0.294x = 1176

⇒ x = 1176/0.294 = 4000

∴ Total no. of bags = 4000
