A Honda showroom sells bikes and cars. The number of vehicles sold in a month is 129. The price of a bike is Rs. 55000 which is 1/10th of the price of a car. If total amount collected at the end of the month is Rs. 2.442 cr, then find the number of bikes sold in that month.

Suppose the number of bikes and cars sold is ‘x’ and ‘y’ respectively;

∴ x + y = 129   ---- (1)

The price of a bike is Rs. 55000 which is 1/10th of the price of a car;

∴ Price of a car = Rs. 550000

Since the total amount collected at the end of the month is Rs. 2.442 cr;

∴ 55000x + 550000y = 24420000

⇒ 11x + 110y = 4884

⇒ x + 10y = 444   ---- (2)

Solving equations (1) and (2)

⇒ x = 94 and y = 35

∴ Number of bikes sold = 94
