GIVEN:

Distance between Ahmedabad and Mumbai is 500 km

Speed of A is 20 km/h

Speed of B is 30 km/h.

CONCEPT:

When two objects move in the same direction, their relative speed is a difference of them

When two objects move in the opposite direction, their relative speed is the addition of them

Total time it will take to separate them by 200 km after they meet each other from the start of the journey = time taken to meet each other + time taken to get separated by 200 km after crossing each other

FORMULA USED:

Distance = Speed × Time

CALCULATIONS:

Time to reach at Surat (Time to meet) = Distance/Speed

⇒ T1 = 500/(20 + 30) = 500/50

⇒ T1 = 10 hours

After 10 hours they will meet each other

Time to be Separated by 200 km after they meet

⇒ T2 = Distance/speed

⇒ T2 = 200/(20 + 30) = 200/50

⇒ T2 = 4 hours

∴ They will take 10 + 4 = 14 hours

∴ it take 14 hours to get separated by 200 km after their first meeting from the starting of a journey.
