In a factory, there are 3 shifts of work for a day. During the 3 shifts, the average working efficiency of workers is 80%, 70%, and 50% respectively. Work is complete in 60 days by the group working in the 1st shift. If the work is done in all the shifts then how many days less are required to complete the work?

In a factory, there are 3 shifts of work for a day. During the 3 shifts, the average working efficiency of workers is 80%, 70%, and 50% respectively. Work is complete in 60 days by the group working in the 1st shift. If the work is done in all the shifts then how many days less are required to complete the work? Correct Answer 36 days

Given:

Efficiency of workers of different shifts = 80% : 70% : 50%

Shift 1 group complete work in 60 days

Formula used:

Average efficiency  = sum of efficiency of workers/number of workers

Percentage = work done by workers/total work × 100

Calculation:

The ratio of efficiency of different shifts

⇒ Shift 1: Shift 2: Shift 3 = 80% : 70% : 50%

⇒ Shift 1: Shift 2: Shift 3 = 8: 7: 5

⇒ Total work = 8 × 60 = 480

⇒ Total efficiency of all shifts = 8 + 7 + 5 = 20

⇒ if work done in all shifts then work completes = 480/20 = 24 days

⇒ less days = 60 – 24 = 36 days

∴ if work done in all shifts then work completes in 36 days less.
