'A' works in 2 shifts of 8 hours each, one in day time & other in night. The efficiency at night is 50% more than at day. If A completed a work in 30 days by working in day shift then in how many days A will complete it in night shift?
'A' works in 2 shifts of 8 hours each, one in day time & other in night. The efficiency at night is 50% more than at day. If A completed a work in 30 days by working in day shift then in how many days A will complete it in night shift? Correct Answer 20
Given:
Efficiency of A at night is 50% more than at day time.
A completed a work in 30 days.
Concept used:
Total work = (Efficiency × No. of days × No. of hours per day)
Calculations:
Let the efficiency of A in day time and night time be 2x and 3x respectively.
Let the no. of days taken by A to complete the same work in night shift be 'D'.
Compare total work
(30 days) × (8 hours) × (2x) = (D days) × (8 hours) × (3x)
D = 20 days
∴ The time taken by A to complete the same work in night shift is 20 days.
Topper's Approach:
Efficiency is inversly proportional to Time
Ratio of efficiency is 2 ∶ 3 ⇒ Ratio of time is 3 ∶ 2.
3 = 30 days.
∴ 2 = 20 days.
