A freight train left Delhi for Mumbai at an average speed of 40 km/hr. Two hours later, an express train left Delhi for Mumbai, following the freight train on a parallel track at an average speed of 60 km/hr. How far from Delhi would the express train meet the freight train?

A freight train left Delhi for Mumbai at an average speed of 40 km/hr. Two hours later, an express train left Delhi for Mumbai, following the freight train on a parallel track at an average speed of 60 km/hr. How far from Delhi would the express train meet the freight train? Correct Answer    240 km

Given:

The speed of freight train is 40 km/h

The speed of the express train is 60 km/h

Calculation:

⇒ In two hours freight train will cover distance = 40 × 2 = 80

⇒ The relative speed of both train = 60 - 40 = 20

⇒ Both train will meet in = 80/20 = 4 hours

⇒ The distance between meeting point from Delhi = 4 × 60 = 240 km

∴ The required result will be 240 km.
