Time taken by X to finish a piece of work is twice the time taken Y and thrice the time is taken by Z. If all three of them work together, it takes them 4 days to complete the entire work. How many days Y alone take to complete the task? Correct Answer 12 days

Given:

Time taken by X to finish a piece of work is twice the time taken Y and thrice the time taken by Z

X, Y, and Z together takes = 4 days

Calculation:

Time taken by X = x days

Time taken by Y = x/2 days

Time Taken by Z = x/3 days

⇒ (1/x) + (2/x) + (3/x) = 1/4

⇒ 6/x = 1/4

⇒ x = 24

∴ Time taken by B = x/2

⇒ 24/2

⇒ 12 days

∴ Y alone takes 12 days.
