Two liquids A and B are mixed in a bucket in the ratio 7 : 5. If 9 liters of the mixture is replaced by 10 liters of liquid B, the ratio of both the liquids becomes 7 : 9. How many liters of liquid A was in the bucket? Correct Answer 22.75

Given:

Ratio of A and B = 7 : 5

Calculation:

According to the question,

(7x - 9 × 7/12)/(5x - 9 × 5/12 + 10) = 7/9

⇒ (28x - 21)/(20x + 25) = 7/9

⇒ 252x - 189 = 140x + 175

⇒ 112x = 364

⇒ x = 3.25

⇒ 7x = 22.75

∴ 22.75 liters of liquid A was in the bucket
