Given that difference between two the ages of to sisters is 2 years

⇒ x - y = 2

Given that father's age is 52, then mother's age = 50

Also given that elder sister's age x = half of the mother's age = 50/2 = 25

Substitute x = 25 in x - y = 2

⇒ 25 - y = 2

⇒ y = 25 - 2 = 23
