Let x be the fixed and y be the variable expenditure

x + 5y = 1050

x + 8y = 1200

on solving, y = 50

and x = 800

∴ Total expenditure for 15 students = 800 + (15 × 50) = 1550

⇒ Average expenditure = 1550/15 = 103.33
