Eva wants to buy dolls and gets one doll free for every 6 dolls she buys. When she bought 36 dolls, the shopkeeper gained Rs. 564 inspite of giving a discount of 40%. Marked price of one doll is Rs. 240. Find the CP of one doll. Correct Answer Rs. 110

Given:

 She got 6 dolls extra on paying for 36 dolls

Formula Used:

SP = CP + Profit

Calculation:

Let the CP and SP of one doll be x and y respectively

Eva will get 42 dolls on paying for 36 dolls

CP = 42x

SP = 36y

Discount of 40% is allowed

⇒ MP = 36y/0.6 = 60y

⇒ MP of one doll = 60y/36 = 240

⇒ y = 144

Gain = 36y – 42x = 564

⇒ 36 × 144 – 42x = 564

⇒ 5184 – 564 = 42x

⇒ 42x = 4620

⇒ x = Rs.110
