Given below are two quantities named A & B. Based on the given information; you have to determine the relation between the two quantities. You should use the given data and your knowledge of Mathematics to choose between the possible answers. A rectangular plot measuring 56 meters by 44 meters is to be enclosed by wire fencing along the boundary of the plot. The fence will be tied on poles that will be placed along the boundary. Quantity A∶ Number of poles required for fencing, if each pole is at a distance of 12.5 meters. Quantity B∶ Radius of a circle whose area is 25% of the area of the rectangular plot.

Correct Answer Quantity A > Quantity B

Quantity A∶

Perimeter of the rectangular plot = 56 + 44 + 56 + 44 = 200 meter

Since each pole is at a distance of 12.5 meters;

∴ Number of poles = 200/12.5 = 16

Quantity B∶

Area of the rectangular plot = 56 × 44 = 2464 square meter

Since the area of the circle is 25% of the area of the rectangular plot;

∴ Area of the circle = 2464 × 0.25 = 616 square meter

∴ 616 = (22/7) × r2

⇒ r2 = 196

⇒ r = 14 meter

∴ Quantity A > Quantity B
