Let the breadth of the room be x

So, length = 7x/5

Perimeter of rectangle = 2 (L + B)

⇒ 96 = 2

⇒ 48 = 12x/5

⇒ x = 20

Breadth of the room = 20 cm

Length of the room = 28 cm

Height of the room = (4/7) of 28 = (4/7) × 28 =16 cm

Area of the whitewashing in the room = Area of four wall + Area of roof

⇒ Area = 2 × (L + B) × H + (L × B)

⇒ Area = 2 × (28 + 20) × 16 + 28 × 20

⇒ Area = 1536 + 560 = 2096 cm2

⇒ Cost per cm2 = Rs.50

∴ Total cost in the whitewashing = 50 × 2096 = Rs.1,04,800
