The base of a right prism is a trapezium whose length of parallel sides are 11 cm and 15 cm and the perpendicular distance between them is 9 cm. Find the height of prism if the volume of prism is 1731.6 cm3.

The base of a right prism is a trapezium whose length of parallel sides are 11 cm and 15 cm and the perpendicular distance between them is 9 cm. Find the height of prism if the volume of prism is 1731.6 cm3. Correct Answer 14.8 cm

Given-

Length of Parallel Sides = 11 cm, 15 cm

Distance between the parallel sides = 9 cm

Concept Used-

Volume of Prism = Area of Base × Height

Area of trapezium = 1/2 × Sum of Parallel Sides × Distance between the parallel sides

Calculation-

Let height of prism = h

Area of trapezium = 1/2 × (11 + 15) × 9

⇒ 117 cm2

Now, Area of trapezium × h = 1731.6

⇒ h = 1731.6/117

⇒ h = 14.8

∴ The height of prism is 14.8 cm
