In a picnic organised by a school 2/3rd of total number of boys and 3/5 of the total number of girls got permission to go. If the total number of boys in the school is 200 more than the number of girls and number of girls who went to picnic is 160 less than the number of boys in who went to the picnic. Find the total students in the school? Correct Answer 1000
Given:
Number of boys got permission to go = 2/3 × Total number of boys
Number of girls got permission to go = 3/5 × Total number of girls
Number of boys in the school = 200 + Number of girls in the school
Number of girls who went to picnic is 160 less than the number of boys in who went to picnic
Calculation:
Let the number of girls in the school be x
Then, the number of boys in the school = x + 200
Boys who got permission = (2/3) × (x + 200)
Girls who got permission = (3/5) × x
⇒ - 3x/5 = 160
⇒ (2x /3) – (3x/5) = 160 - (400/3)
⇒ x/15 = 80//3
⇒ x = 400
Total students in the school = 400 + (400 + 200)
⇒ 400 + 600
⇒ 1000
∴ Total number of students in the school is 1000
