The total strength of the class = 56 

Number of girls in the class = (2/7) of the total strength

Number of students who went for picnic = (3/7) of the total strength of the class

Calculation:

According to the question,

Number of girls in the class = (2/7) × 56

⇒ 2 × 8

⇒ 16

Now, number of students who went for the picnic = (3/7) × 56

⇒ 3 × 8

⇒ 24 

Now, Number of girls who went for the picnic = 33.33% of the picnic going students

⇒ (1/3) × 24

⇒ 8

So, number of boys who went for the picnic = Total picnic going students - Number of girls who went for the picnic

⇒ 24 - 8 

⇒ 16

Now, Number of boys in the class who did not go to the picnic = Total number of boys in the class - Number of boys who went for the picnic

⇒ {(5/7) × 56} - 16

⇒ 40 - 16

⇒ 24 

∴ The number of boys in the class who did not go to the picnic is 24.
