The winner got 4950 more votes than the person who received the least number of votes. Find the total number of votes polled. Correct Answer 33000

Given:

Arshad got = 35% of total votes

Calculation:

Let the total number of votes polled be N.

Arshad got votes = N × 35/100 = 7N/20

Chamanlal got votes = N/35 × 14 = 2N/5

Jagjit got votes = N - 7N/20 - 2N/5 = N/4

Jagjit got less number of votes while Chamanlal won the election.

Then,

⇒ 2N/5 = N/4 + 4950

⇒ N = 33000

∴ Total number of votes polled is 33000.
