Two times of A’s salary is five times of B’s salary and four times of B’s salary is twice C’s salary. What is A’s salary, if C’s salary is Rs. 1,600? Correct Answer Rs. 2,000

Given:

Two times of A’s salary is five times of B’s salary and four times of B’s salary is twice C’s salary

Calculation∶

According to the question

2A = 5B

A : B = 5 : 2     ---(1)

4B = 2C

B : C = 2 : 4     ---(2)

From equation (1) and Equation (2)

A : B : C = 5 : 2 : 4

∵ 4 unit = 1600

⇒ 1 unit = 1600/4 = 400

 5 unit = 400 × 5 = 2000

∴ the correct answer is Rs.2000

Shortcut Trick

B’s salary = 2 × 1600/4 = Rs. 800

∴ A’s salary = 5 × 800/2 = Rs. 2,000
