In the following question, two statements are numbered as A and B. On solving these statements, we get quantities A and B respectively. Solve both quantities and choose the correct option. Quantity A: The ratio of two numbers is 6 : 11 and their difference is 65. What will be the smaller number among both the numbers? Quantity B: The ratio of two numbers is 5 : 6. If their product is 1470, then what is the sum of both the numbers?

In the following question, two statements are numbered as A and B. On solving these statements, we get quantities A and B respectively. Solve both quantities and choose the correct option. Quantity A: The ratio of two numbers is 6 : 11 and their difference is 65. What will be the smaller number among both the numbers? Quantity B: The ratio of two numbers is 5 : 6. If their product is 1470, then what is the sum of both the numbers? Correct Answer Quantity A > Quantity B

Quantity A:

Let the two numbers be ‘6x’ and ‘11x’ respectively

Difference = 11x – 6x = 65

⇒ 5x = 65

⇒ x = 65/5 = 13

∴ Smaller number = 6x = 6(13) = 78

Quantity B:

Let two number be 5x and 6x

Product = 5x × 6x = 30x2

According to the question,

30x2 = 1470

⇒ x2 = 49

⇒ x = 7

Now,

∴ Sum = 5x + 6x = 11x = 11 × 7 = 77

∴ Quantity A > Quantity B
