In making decisions about important questions, it is desirable to be able to distinguish between ‘strong’ arguments and ‘weak’ arguments. ‘Strong’ arguments are those, which are both important and directly related to the question. ‘Weak’ arguments are those, which are of minor importance and also may not be directly related to the question or may be related to a trivial aspect of the question. The questions below if followed by two arguments numbered I and II. You have to decide which of the arguments a ‘strong’ argument is and which a ‘weak’ argument is. Statement: Should government ban child labour? Arguments: I. Yes, because they are forced to work against their will. Lots of kids die because they work in dangerous environment. II Yes, because instead of making them work they should be educated as it is their basic right.

Option 4 would be the correct option as both the arguments are strong and are directly related to the statement. Both the arguments talks about why child labour has to be banned. Government should ban child labour as it is against the kid’s will that they are made to work, they are forced to quit school and start working. Kids are made to work in dangerous environment where they risk losing their life which should not be allowed. They must at least be provided with basic education so they will be able to understand what they want in future.
