With reference to the interior of the earth consider the following statements. 1] The P-waves are similar to sound waves. They can travel through only solid materials. 2] The mean thickness of continental crust is around 30 km. 3] The surface waves are the last to report on seismograph. Which of the statements given above is / are correct?

Which of the statements given above is / are correct? Correct Answer 2 and 3 only
- Only the statements 2 and 3 are correct.
- P-waves are a type of seismic waves and they travel faster than other seismic waves. These may be transmitted through all mediums be it solid, liquid or gas.
- Sound waves are vibrations in the air and require a medium to travel. These can be both longitudinal and transverse waves. In a solid medium, these can be either transverse or longitudinal, while in the air and liquid medium, these are essentially longitudinal.
