P, Q and R enter into a partnership. P invests some amount at the beginning. Q invests double the amount after 6 months and R invests thrice the amount invested by P after 8 months. They earn a profit of Rs. 36000 at the end of the year. What is Q’s share in the profit? Correct Answer Rs. 12000

Given:

→ Q invests double the amount of P after 6 months

→ R invests thrice the amount of P after 8 months

→ Total Profit = 36000

Concept:

Ratio and proportions concept is used

Calculation:

Let A be the amount invested by P

So, 2A be the amount invested by Q

and 3A be the amount invested by R

Then, ratio of profit of P, Q and R = (A × 12) : (2 × A × 6) : (3 × A × 4)

⇒ Ratio of profit of P, Q and R = 1 : 1 : 1

∴ Q’s share = (1 / 3) × 36000 = Rs. 12000
