Ajay, udi and ravi have invested amount in business. Udi invested twice the amount then ajay and ravi invested thrice the amount then ajay. Ajay was the first one to invest, udi invested after 3 months in the business and ravi invested after 5 months then ajay. If the udi invested Rs. 20,000 and they earned a profit of 17% at end of one year then what is ajay’s share in profit? Correct Answer Rs. 2400
Given:
Investment ratio → ajay : udi : ravi = 1 : 2 : 3
Ajay = 12 months
Udi = 9 months (Investment duration)
Ravi = 7 months (Investment duration)
Udi invested = Rs. 20000
Profit % = 17%
Formula used:
Profit earned in Rs. = Profit earned in % × investment
Calculation:
Let, amount invested by ajay be X
⇒ Amount invested by udi = 2X
⇒ Amount invested by ravi = 3X
⇒ Ratio of profit earned = (X × 12) : (2X × 9) : (3X × 7)
⇒ Ratio = 4X : 6X : 7X
⇒ Ratio = 4 : 6 : 7
⇒ Udi invested = Rs. 20000
Hence, ajay invested = Rs. 10000 and ravi invested Rs. 30000 (∵Investment ratio → ajay : udi : ravi = 1 : 2 : 3)
⇒ Total investment = Rs. 60000
⇒ Profit earned in Rs. = 60000 × 0.17
⇒ Profit earned in Rs. = Rs. 10,200
⇒ Ajay’s share in profit = 4 × 10200/ 17
⇒ Ajay’s share in profit = Rs. 2400
∴ Ajay’s share in profit is Rs. 2400
