A man buys 45 liters of petrol for Rs. 62 per liter and 30 liters of kerosene at Rs. 25 per liter. He mixes both and then sells the mixture mentioning it as petrol. At what price must he sell each liter to get a profit of 30% on each liter he sells? Correct Answer 61.36
Given:
A man buys 45 liters of petrol for Rs. 62 per liter
He buys 30 liters of kerosene at Rs. 25 per liter
Profit percent = 30%
Calculation:
According to the question
Total C.P of 45 liters of petrol = Rs. 62 × 45 = 2790
Total C.P of 30 liters of kerosene = Rs. 30 × 25 = 750
⇒ Total cost price of the mixture = 750 + 2790 = Rs. 3540
⇒ Effective C.P of each liter of mixture = 3540/(45 + 30) = Rs. 47.2
Now, To gain a profit of 30%,
The selling price of each liter = C.P × 130/100
⇒ 47.2 × 130/100 = 61.36
∴ The selling price of each liters of the mixture is 61.36.
