Let the numerator be ‘N’.

⇒ Fraction = N/(N + 8)

According to question,

(N + 14)/(N + 8) = 3N/(N + 8)

⇒ N + 14 = 3N

⇒ N = 14/2 = 7

⇒ The fraction = 7/(7 + 8) = 7/15

∴ 5 times the fraction = 7/15 × 5 = 7 ∶ 3
