A shopkeeper had a certain number of goods. He sells half of the goods at Rs. 50 each, the half of the other half he sells at Rs. 100 and the rest he sells at Rs. 300 each. What is the number of the costliest goods if he has Rs. 50,000 after selling all the goods? Correct Answer 100

Let the total number of goods be ‘4x’

Then money earned by selling good at Rs. 50 = 50 × 2x

Then money earned by selling good at Rs. 100 = 100 × x

Then money earned by selling good at Rs. 300 = 300 × x

Total money earned by selling all the goods = x(100 + 100 + 300)

⇒ 500x = 50,000

⇒ x = 50,000/500 = 100

∴ Total number of costliest good = x = 100
