A boy goes to his school which is 30 km far from home with certain speed and comes back from school and takes total 1.6 hours. If speed while returning from school is 60% of his speed while going to school, then what is the speed of boy while going to school? Correct Answer 50 km/h

Let the speed of boy while going to school and while coming from school is ‘x’ and ‘0.6x’ respectively.

Average speed of journey = Total distance/Total time = (2 × 30)/1.6 = 37.5 km/h

(2 × x × 0.6x) / (x + 0.6x) = 37.5

1.2x/1.6 = 37.5

x = 50

Hence, speed of boy while going to school = x = 50 km/h
