In his cricket career, Rahul scored at an average of 36 runs in first 45 innings and in the next 50 innings he scored at an average of 24 runs. To score at an average of 32 runs in 100 innings at what average rate he must score in his last 5 innings? Correct Answer 76
FORMULA USED:
Average = Sum of numbers/Total numbers
CALCULATION:
Let Rahul scored at an average rate of ‘x’ runs per innings in the last 5 innings
In the first 45 innings Rahul scored at an average of 36 runs
⇒ Total runs scored in first 45 innings = 45 × 36 = 1620
In the next 50 innings Rahul scored at an average of 24 runs
⇒ Total runs scored in next 50 innings = 50 × 24 = 1200
⇒ Total runs scored in last 5 innings = 5 × x = 5x
Average runs to be scored in 100 innings = 32
⇒ Total runs scored in 100 innings = 32 × 100 = 3200
Now,
⇒ 1620 + 1200 + 5x = 3200
⇒ 2820 + 5x = 3200
⇒ 5x = 380
⇒ x = 76
∴ Rahul should 76 runs per inning in the last inning to score the average of 32 runs in the 100 innings
