প্রাণীদেহে অবস্থিত অন্তঃক্ষরা বা অনালগ্রন্থি থেকে হরমোন ক্ষরিত হয় । অমেরুদণ্ডী প্রাণীদের স্নায়ুগ্রন্থিতে অবস্থিত নিউরোসিক্রেটরি কোষগুলো থেকে হরমোন নিঃসৃত হয় । প্রাণীদের নিউরোসিক্রেটরি কোষ থেকে নিঃসৃত হরমোনকে নিউরো হরমোন বলে ।
