I just read about preventing stiff towels. I used to use fabric softener, but quit when I replaced all bath towels to royal velvet about 1 year ago; they advised cold water and no fabric softener. Now they are getting stiff. Do you suggest using once as directed?

You can try putting 1/3 cup of vinegar into the washing machine's rinse cycle to soften your towels.
