If I let the piercing heal with a hoop in it, will it heal as a curved hole? Will I not be able to wear regular studs later?

You will be able to wear regular studs. The first time, it may take a little wiggling to get the stud in, but you shouldn't experience any significant pain. Don't rush it; let it heal completely before changing piercing.
