If you are sewing with Alencon lace, hand-stitch instead of using a machine. Lace can easily get caught or snagged in a machine, so it's better to hand-sew. It you are making a halter with the lace that attaches instead of ties at the neck, use a whip-stitch or even a basic running stitch with thread that is the same color as the lace, either white or off-white. However, if it is a dress as important as a wedding dress, consider getting it professionally tailored for the occasion.
