For many years I successfully kept pairs of guinea pigs in a household made up of 5 cats. However, the two species were never left unsupervised together (for obvious reasons as cats are hunters). The pigs were also introduced to the cats as youngsters, so that they weren't fearful around them, which meant all the four-leggers could live in harmony.
