What if you’re scared to introduce your boyfriend to your parents?

First, ask yourself why you’re scared. Are you afraid that your parents won’t approve of him, or that they’ll do something to embarrass you in front of him? Or are you scared that he’ll do something inappropriate in front of them? Once you’ve determined the root of your fear, brainstorm ways to handle it. For example, if you think your parents might do something embarrassing, try diplomatically asking them not to do that before he comes over (e.g., “Dad, could you please try not to talk about politics when Todd is here? I just want to keep things chill.”). If you’re afraid they won’t listen to your wishes, you can always warn your boyfriend what to expect so he won’t be caught off-guard.
