There's no reason why you can't install track lighting on a wall. Depending on the weight of the track lighting and the manufacturer's advice on that, mostly we see them from the ceiling. As long as it's not too heavy, it's not going to pull it off of the wall. Typically, they're hanging from the ceiling, and they're kind of made to hang down, but if it's not too heavy, it shouldn't damage the wall. You're just hanging it in the same type of box as you would hang it on the ceiling.
