Start by turning off the water supply so it doesn't spray everywhere. Kook for a stop valve beneath the sink, tub, or basin and turn it off. Then, use a flathead screwdriver to pop off the indicator or index button, which is typically located on the top of the handle. You should see the head of a screw at the center of the handle. Unscrew this screw with your screwdriver, pull off the handle, and set everything aside. Make sure you don't lose any of the screws or pieces so you can put the handle back on later.
