We have a burm behind our pool. Our landscaper planted blue rug juniper to begin with, and it did not do well as it was shaded by a neighbors huge, old oak tree. Tried lerope, but did not work. What about incorporating rock? Spring cleaning is a problem because of oak tree. Any suggestions?

Find some perennials tolerant of shade and plant them. The oak leaves will provide natural mulch, and will not need to be cleaned up.
